Nobody needs to tell you what the main attraction in Niagara Falls is. But the loud, colorful, garish sights of Clifton Hill are as much a tourist destination as the mighty Falls themselves.
This street is lined with one-of-a-kind attractions, located just one block away from the famous Falls. Yes, the road leads uphill the entire way, so the walk can be a bit strenuous if you don't stop as you go. But with so many places to catch your attention, it's not likely that you will keep walking by anyway. Each of these sights has its own entrance fees or ticket prices, and many of them are not cheap.
Here are a few examples of what you will find on this famous stretch of road. As you can quickly see, these aren't your typical tourist traps. Admittedly, some of the locations have been around for decades, and are noticeably “low-tech” compared to flashier modern attractions.
One of the classic attractions on Clifton Hill, housing more than 500 exhibits of the rare, strange and bizarre. Robert Ripley traveled all over the world, and visited nearly 200 countries in search of the weirdest stories and artifacts.
A place to see the biggest, smallest, longest or just plain extraordinary. Most of the displays are replicas of the actual people, animals or events but still give a very visual show for your entertainment.
This may be the only place to see the “stars” up close and personal. Ok, they're not real, but you might be surprised at just how real these wax images look. Scenes from the latest blockbusters, or the timeless classics we all recognize.
You're never too old for miniature golf. This course is set among jungle vegetation and a slew of dinosaurs. Fun for kids or adults. The course has 18 holes and plenty of non-prehistoric hazards to putt around too.
Besides these few places, there are dozens more to see. Arcades, midways and even old-fashioned spooky funhouses add to the noise and excitement of Clifton Hill.
There are several major hotel chains right on Clifton Hill, putting you right in the middle of all the excitement while you stay in Niagara Falls. There is a Comfort Inn and a Quality Inn. For your dining pleasure, there are well-known restaurants such as the Hard Rock Cafe, Planet Hollywood, Kelsey's Bar and Grill, Mama Mia's and you can't forget the Canadian darling, Tim Hortons.
