Learning to body surf, climbing outdoor sculptures and snow tubing are just a few fun attractions for families to enjoy who are home for the March break in Toronto.

Do not despair; if you are not boarding a plane to a hot tropical vacation spot this March break. Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) have fun, inexpensive, and entertaining hot spots within the city limits. Toronto and the GTA have wonderful mini vacations for the family to enjoy this March break.

Families on a variety of budgets can indulge themselves with daily excursions which will take them away from the hustle and bustle of everyday living. Learn body surfing, snow tubing, and enjoy homemade pancakes with fresh maple syrup in one jammed packed day or engage in one activity a day.

March break activities to entertain the kids; keep the check book balanced, and to create family memories of fun and laughter.

Canada Blooms: The Toronto Flower and Garden Festival

Enjoy the scent and beauty of spring at Canada Bloom from March 12-18. As you enter the doors you will forget about the bitter cold and foot high snow and be whisked away to a floral paradise. Forget about the expensive trips across the oceans, Canada Blooms will uplift anyone’s spirits with the sweet smell of flowers and the visual wonderment that surrounds them.

Canada Bloom is free to children under 12 and the cost of an adult is $18.0 at the door. Parents can save by prepaying at stores such as Sobeys or visit the festival after 5:00pm. After 5:00 still gives kids and their parents plenty of time, however they will not be able to explore The Green Playground by the Ontario Toyota Dealers. The playground is a must see for kids under the age of 12 as it has tree forts, sculptures to climb and much more.

The Wave Pool

Pretend you and your family are on a tropical swim at The Wave Pool in Richmond Hill. No storms inside the number 1 tropical swimming destination in the Greater Toronto Area. The wave pool provides hours of fun as kids engage in body surfing and just plain swimming fun. As the kids, enjoy the warm tropical waters, parents can sit under a palm tree as they watch their children with trained lifeguards.

There is a group rate for $15.0 for 5 and you do not have to be related, just at least one adult and no more than 2. The Wave Pool is fun because adults and kids can body surf or swim in a safe environment on a cold winter day during the March break.

Putting Edge: Glow in the Dark Mini Golf

Mini golf is a big attraction for the families in Florida. Forget the travel and enjoy an afternoon with the children at Putting Edge; glow in the dark mini golf. All skill levels and age groups will enjoy hitting their glow in the dark golf balls as they laugh at their friends bright smiles under the black lights.

Check the local newspaper and family parent magazine for 2-1 coupons to Putting Edge. Expiry date on the coupons is after the March break. Enjoy a game of mini putt with the family. Putting Edge allows you to book your time for your convenience. Book your time early because the March Break and the 2-1 coupon will bring many families to enjoy the mini golf. Glow in the Dark Mini golf is for all ages and the family may or may not keep score.

Kortright Maple Syrup Festival/Bruce Mill Maple Syrup Festival

Enjoy the Canadian outdoors, as you walk along a marked path detailing the making of maple syrup. No kid will refuse the sweet taste of maple syrup, and the trails give them ample opportunity to run off their high energies. As the family explores, they will hear a few birds and may spot a bunny or chipmunk along the path. As well, kids will enjoy walking down the steep hills and splashing in a few puddles along their way. At the end of the trail enjoy some hot maple syrup; and then visit the snack shop for homemade pancakes smothered in fresh maple syrup.

Maple Syrup Festival includes horse drawn rides, craft center, interpretative center, nature movie, and self guided and guided walks. Cost of the day for 2 adults and 2 school aged children to enter the festival is approximately $30.0. Souvenirs and hot pancakes are an extra cost. Kortright and Bruce Mill have most of the same activities; decision should be based on their location. Kortright is located in Vaughan, northwest of Toronto and Bruce Mill’s, northeast of Toronto in Stouville.

MountChinguacousy: Tubing

Toronto’s March break falls during the winter season; what says winter more than snow tubing down a hill at top speeds. If your family is new to winter fun, spend a few hours at Mount Chinguacousy in Brampton tubing down the hill. Snow tubing is a winter amusement ride that has adults and children laughing and screaming for their life until the tube comes to a complete stop at the end of the ride. Mount Chinguacousy is the perfect hill for your family to begin their adventures in snow tubing.

Cost is $11.25 for 2 hours per person, just slightly higher than a movie ticket. Tubing is great exercise and lots of fun for parents and kids. Tubing is a great introduction to winter sports with minimum cost. Snowboarding and skiing will be double the price or more depending if you require lessons and rentals. Enjoy tubing in the morning before the rush or call to find the more quiet times during the March break.
