Canadian City Offers Casinos, Nightclubs, and Other Entertainment

Niagara Falls, Ontario, located in the southern part of the province, is one of Canada’s top tourist destinations. Niagara Falls Tourism and the City of Niagara Falls estimate that between 12 to 14 million tourists come to see the falls each year – a figure that has caused Forbes Traveler to name the Niagara Falls as Canada’s most visited tourist attraction.
But the city of Niagara Falls has much more to offer tourists than just the falls: the colourful and eclectic tourist promenade Clifton Hill, amusement parks and kid-friendly attractions such as Marineland and water parks, and numerous other attractions, such as casinos. This article focuses specifically on the nightlife attractions in the city.
Niagara Falls Casinos
There are two casinos in Niagara Falls, Ontario. They are Casino Niagara and the Fallsview Casino. Casino Niagara is the elder of the two, having opened in 1996. It is also the most popular casino in Canada, and features 2700 slot machines and 150 gaming tables. Yuk Yuk’s Comedy Club performs at the casino.
The Fallsview Casino Resort, according to the official Web site of Clifton Hill, is “one of the grandest and most extensive facilities ever to appear on the Niagara skyline.” The 2.5 million square-foot complex first opened in 2004, and includes a 200,000 square-foot casino with 3000 slot machines and 150 gaming tables; a 30-storey five-star hotel; a large health and fitness spa; a galleria of restaurants, retail stores, and a nightclub; and the Avalon Ballroom, a 1500 square-foot state-of-the-art ballroom that has featured entertainers such as Styx, Reba, Michael Bolton, and Donna Summer.
Niagara Falls Dinner Theatres
There are two dinner theatre shows in Niagara Falls. The Greg Ferwin Dinner Theatre, located atop Clifton Hill, is a Las Vegas-style magic show presented nightly by “The International Grand Champion of Magic” Greg Ferwin. The Oh Canada Eh Dinner Show is a musical celebration of Canadian culture, and features lumberjacks, hockey players, Mounted police, Anne of Green Gables, and other Canadian icons.
Clifton Hill Nightclubs
There are two nightclubs in the Clifton Hill area of Niagara Falls. The first, Dragonfly Nightclub, is part of the Fallsview Casino Resort and also serves as a venue for corporate events, presentations, and fashion shows. It has an Asian theme. The second, Rumours Night Club, is called “the hottest nightclub in southern Ontario” on Clifton Hill’s official Web site.
Other Entertainment
Hypnotist and illusionist Danny Zzz performs nightly from February to September 2009 at the Niagara Centre for the Performing Arts.
