Niagara-on-the-Lake may be a small town but it isn't short on thing to do. Read about all the tourist attractions that Niagara-on-the-Lake has to offer.

Niagara-on-the-Lake is a popular tourist town. It's a small town with big attitude. The locals are extremely friendly and are more than willing to point out the best wineries, vineyards, restaurants and theaters. Niagara-on-the-Lake isn't short on things to do.

Niagara-on-the-Lake Wineries and Vineyards

The Niagara region is known for its wine country so there are numerous vineyards and wineries to visit on vacation in Niagara-on-the-Lake. One of the best ones is Peller Estates Winery and it is located about a 20 minute from the downtown core. Vineyard tours, winery restaurant, and tasting experiences are just some of the things to do at the winery.

Some of the other good wineries around the Niagara-on-the-Lake region include Hillebrand, Jackson-Triggs Niagara Estate, Stratus Vineyards, Reif Estate Winery, Strewn Vineyards, Sunnybrook Farms Vineyards, Chateau des Charmes, and Pillitteri Estates. Niagara Gourmet Restaurants and Dining

What better way to enjoy the wines of the Niagara region than over dinner? In Niagara-on-the-Lake food is taken just as seriously as wines as the town has many exceptional restaurants to offer. The choices range from quaint and casual bistros, to delicious pubs and grills, to elegant dining rooms. The menus pair local foods and wines for exceptional tasting experiences.

The Shaw Festival is said to have the best plays around. The Shaw Festival presents it's plays in three distinct theaters - The Festival Theater (the flagship theater), the Court House theater (the original historic Shaw Festival Theater) and the Royal George Theater (based on an Edwardian opera house). Niagara-on-the-Lake Bed and Breakfasts

Tourists are sure to rest easy in Niagara-on-the-Lake with the abundance of lodgings to choose from that have been ranked among the best in the country. There are many choices available from inns, to cottages to bed and breakfasts in some of the most beautiful homes in the country. Each one offers amazing meals, beautiful rooms and friendly hospitality.

Some of the area's best inns include the Charles Inn (a manor house circa 1832), the Riverbend Inn and Vineyard and Harbor House Hotel. Some vintage hotels include the Prince of Wales Hotel (located on downtown Queen Street) and the Pillar and Post Inn.

While the inns and hotels may be grand and luxurious, the bed and breakfasts should not be overlooked. Some great Bed and Breakfasts include the Abel Thomas House, the Apple Tree Historic B&B, Cecile's House circa 1890, Davy's House circa 1842 and the Old Bank House Country Inn, all of which are located in the heart of Old Town Niagara-on-the-Lake minutes away from shops and restaurants.

Town Tours and Ghost Walks

There is never a lack of things to do in Niagara-on-the-Lake. First-time visitors and even return visitors may enjoy the many walking tours offered by the town. Historic tours guide visitors around the town while learning about the History of Niagara-on-the-Lake and some of it's buildings.

For those more daring, there are ghost walks that meet in the evening outside of the historic Angel Inn. Visitors can enjoy a candlelit tour around town while hearing the most famous tales of the ghosts and hauntings of Niagara-on-the-Lake. It's quite interesting and provides a chance to view the town at night.

Instead of walking, visitors can always take a horse-drawn carriage ride through town. They are always around town so finding one is easy and there isn't a better way to see the town.

Shopping in Niagara-on-the-Lake

For the shopaholics Niagara-on-the-Lake has a number of quaint little shops where tourists are guaranteed to find something special. The Maple Leaf Fudge Shop is always a popular destination as they arguably have the best fudge. Cheese Secrets is a small shop offering a variety of delicious gourmet cheeses. The bakery is also always full of people purchasing delicious treats.
