Of the many types of food available in Kingston, Sushi is perhaps the most hotly contested category. There are a number of restaurants to choose from. Here are the best.

The majority of Kingston’s Sushi Restaurants are in the Downtown region, on Princess St, close to Lake Ontario. It’s here that the best fish can be found, as well as the best service. However, there are definitely some additional choices for those with transport. Here is the rundown of the various choices:

All You Can Eat Sushi

There are only a few places to get all you can eat Sushi in Kingston. No matter where you go, it will likely cost you between $20 and $25. Unfortunately, the best places in town do not offer buffet style Sushi. However, the locations that do are quite good in their own right.

  • Asha Restaurant, at 177 Princess St, offers a great variety of Japanese and Korean food in their All-You-Can-Eat Menu. It is a set-menu which you can then add to after finishing the assigned dishes. The Banana Tempura is delicious.
  • Sapporo Restaurant, at 277 Bath Road, also offers an all you can eat sushi in a slightly different format. Here, you pay around the same amount, and the chef will bring out an assortment of choices. Simply eat Sashimi, Maki and Nigiri until you can't anymore!

Best Quality Sushi

No matter where one eats in Kingston, thankfuly the quality of fish is going to be high. A couple places are a little better than other places, however.

  • Take Sushi, at 120 Princess St, likely is the best restaurant for Japanese Food in Kingston, Ontario. The menu is expansive so there are choices for everyone.
  • Akira Sushi, at 6-83 Aberfoyle Road is also a great choice. The items on the menu are displayed very artistically, which makes eating at Akira delightful.

Restaurants with Great Service

Some places in Kingston are better than others for service. The best strategy for eating out at Sushi restaurants is to allow a large amount of time for the meal. Try not to sandwich a meal between appointments or before a show. Be patient and enjoy the atmosphere!

  • The service at Take Sushi is tremendous. The restaurant has small buttons on each table that can call a waitress which is very convenient.
  • Similar to Take Sushi, Arisu Sushi at Division and Princess also has great service with good food.
  • Finally, Sakura Sushi, located at 1350 Bath Road, also has great service. The prices are good at this location as well.

As of 2009, Sushi has become a very popular choice in Kingston, Ontario. Tourists to the location are almost spoiled for choice. One of the very nice things about eating Sushi in Kingston is that there are no real bad choices. The competition is such that each restaurant has to provide a very high level of quality to stay open. This is great for sushi-lovers!
